It’s in the Details

I continue to read The Wheel of Time Series, and am now on “The Path of Daggers” (tPoD). If you’ve never read a book by Robert Jordan, you are missing out. He honestly is an inspiration to those who dream to write. His eye on detail is, well amazing. With every page, you know what the character is wearing, down to the shape and color of the buttons! You can literally hear the accent in each of their voices. He has a way of writing that you don’t have to wonder. I have never asked myself, “What is the weather like? What are the dresses like in this particular land? What does the accent of an Illianer sound like?!” Of course, some might and do find his attention to detail a bit over the top, but those of us who are serious about reading and writing appreciate the time he took to “show” us the details. I believe part of the reason his books are well over 800+ pages long is in part due to the detail of each and every scene.

I’ve been reading tPoD for about a month or so now and am disappointed that it’s taking so long. I have many reasons, naturally. Work, family, soccer, laundry, gardening, etc. The bottom line is, there are just never enough hours in the day to read an epic-ly long book….or series for that matter. I find that the only time I have to read is the hour I have at lunch during work. I sit in my car, either freezing or sweating depending on the season, devouring my lunch, and read….as fast as my brain and eyes can manage to coordinate it! Needless to say, I’m nearly finish with “The Path of Daggers”. So. When I finish, I will return to give a review.

For now though, I have most exciting news! I have recently been approached to do a review on a new book! I’m honestly very excited about this! One of my favorite things to do is read and another is to write. So, to have someone approach me and ask me to read a book and write a review about it, I’m pretty thrilled about it! In the next week or two I will be posting a review on this book. I will for now keep you in suspense as to which book I will be reviewing!
